1) Go here and download the latest version of Ventrilo:

2) Once downloaded, install the software. When it has successfully completed, you can now open up ventrilo. First, you need to set up your username. Click on the arrow button next to the username drop down box and a new window will appear. On this window, you will need to set a "New" username. Type in your Neoseeker username ONLY, unless it is a shortened version or an acceptable version (use your common sense). Leave the other boxes blank unless you know exactly what they do as they arent neccessary.

3) Next you will need to set up the server. Click on the arrow button next to the server drop down box, and create a "New" server (like how you did with the username). Enter any name for the server, I chose "NeoRS" as its pretty standard.

4) Once you have clicked ok on the name of the server, you will need to fill in the boxes correctly. This is the server information. The screenshot below states the exact information (Hostname and Port number). You can also find this information on the first post in the NeoRS Ventrilo Chat thread (incase the information ever changes).

5) Once you have done all this, you may click the "Connect" button down the right hand side of the program. This will connect you to the server as shown in the picture. Double click on the channels to move down to them. When in a different channel to others, people cannot hear you, so make sure you are in the same channel as others when you talk otherwise you may look like a fool. Ideally, the "Runescape" channel is where you should idle.

6) Now comes the important part. When first loading Vent, your microphone will automatically transmit sounds going into it. So if mummy calls for dinner, everyone will hear. To eliminate this problem (recommended), set up a push to talk hotkey. You can find the information by pressing the "Setup" button along the right hand side of the vent program. The hotkey is the key you will press when you want to talk to other people. Press and hold this button and talk, then release it when you are finished. Simple. Whilst in the setup, you may want to adjust your Outbound and Inbound settings if your sounds/microphone is too loud/soft.

7) Lastly, the huge benefit of Ventrilo is the use of the chat. To bring up the chat, click the "Chat" button on the right hand side of the vent program. you will be able to talk via keyboard to everyone in the chatroom and it is very useful to turn on TTS. This will speak the words out loud that people have typed, so it is useful to those who dont have microphones.
